Emergency preparedness group
- Bodies and roles
The Be Ready website says that "the equivalent of Local Resilience Forums in Northern Ireland are Emergency Preparedness Groups". Its page on how UK resilience is organised counts three of them, alongside the 38 local resilience forums in England, four in Wales and three regional resilience partnerships in Scotland. The National Risk Register 2025 names them in the same list and says these local partnerships bring local responders together to plan for risks and produce community risk registers that focus on the highest priority risks in each area.
The gov.uk page of local resilience forum contact details says that details for the groups "are available from the Northern Ireland Civil Contingencies Policy Branch", part of the Executive Office. Be Ready points to NI Direct's Be ready for emergencies page for preparedness information in Northern Ireland.
The Contingency Planning Regulations 2005 treat Northern Ireland separately. Regulation 6 requires the general Category 1 responders there to co-operate with each other, without creating a named forum, and regulation 2 says several of the Regulations do not extend to Northern Ireland.
In practice
A household in Northern Ireland finds its group through the Executive Office and its preparedness advice through NI Direct.
